Emily LevinePresident
|
Emily is from Great Neck, NY, and is a Senior at Stern majoring in biochemistry and philosophy. She loves juggling, traveling to far-off countries, and dancing salsa. Emily's interest in chemistry pretty much boils down to a burning desire to learn the secret to baking the greatest chocolate chip cookies. Somehow, despite all the classes she has taken on the topic, she persistently manages to burn her pastries. |
Aviva GittlemanVice President
|
Aviva has dreamed of being a scientist ever since watching Ms. Frizzle on the Magic School Bus every morning before school. After attaining a BA in biology from Stern College, Aviva is planning to further her science education in graduate school studying cell and developmental biology. Outside of the classroom she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, and swimming. |
Ilana Ickow Vice President |
Ilana is from Ocean, NJ, and is a Senior at Stern. She enjoys graphic design, playing the piano and flute, and watching periodontal surgery. Her love of chemistry is inspired by her fascination with oxidation-reduction reactions. Her favorite electron configuration is the sigma, sigma* configuration and her favorite color corresponds to the 490 nanometer wavelength. She looks forward to the day when the missing elements will be found, dead or alive. |
Batsheva Kuhr Vice President |
Born and raised in Baltimore, Batsheva is currently a senior at Stern, majoring in Biology. Her career aspiration is to become an optometrist. One of Batsheva's favorite chemicals is beta-carotene, which can reduce the risk of the eye disease called macular degeneration by 40%. This nutrient is found in carrots, especially purple carrots, which is awesome because Batsheva absolutely loves the color purple! |
Racheli RatnerVice President
|
Racheli Ratner, Brooklyn native, is a participant in the Legacy Heritage Jewish Education Program at Stern College. She is majoring in Jewish Education and minoring in Chemistry. She is a typical chemist who sees the glass completely full--half in the liquid state and half in the vapor state. If she is not in the Beit Midrash, she is in the chem lab, working away...or in the Schottenstein store buying gummies! |
Kaitlyn Respler Vice President |
Kaitlyn is from Teaneck, New Jersey. She first encountered her passion for chemistry as a mere 6th grader attending space camp at the Buehler Science Center. She has now decided to pursue a biochemistry major at Stern College with the hopes of going to medical school. Outside of school she enjoys volunteering for Yachad, hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking. |
Sarah Elimelech |
Sarah grew up in Paris, France where she majored in Biology and Chemistry in high school. She is now continuing and perfecting her education at Stern College as a Biochemistry major. Sarah is very meticulous and loves smiles. For this reason, she wants to go to dental school to become an orthodontist and make smiles nicer all day long. Sarah was inspired by her professors to look for ways to improve our world, such as finding the secret element that will finally make the periodic table stick to the classroom wall. |
Elizabeth Goldberger |
Elizabeth is a chemistry major in her third year at Stern, and she plans on going on to medical school. She enjoys learning about the practical side of chemistry, both in its uses in everyday life as well as its presence in the body. Hailing from Florida, she enjoys traveling, singing, and cooking, so she is particularly excited about the upcoming year's theme of chemistry and food. |
Davida Kollmar |
A Junior at Stern, Davida is a physics major, so her favorite aspect of chemistry is when the two fields intersect. Working at the chem club magic show last year made her realize that she could easily make the science labs her fourth home, behind her house in Edison, NJ, her dorm room, and the Beit Midrash. Davida's hobbies include reading, learning just about anything, and writing her puzzle column for The Observer. |
Malka Nusbaum |
Malka, born and and bred in Cherry Hill, NJ, claims she majors in Malkaism, but in reality hopes to pursue nursing. Malka is often found volunteering in hospitals in New York, New Jersey or The Middle of Nowhere, Pennsylvania. She spends her free time catching the latest adventure, listening to music or shiurim, spending time with friends and family, and picking up new hobbies such as beading, ice skating, knitting, hiking, painting and hot yoga. With Malka's creative mind and natural instinct for fun, she looks forward to being a "catalyst" for the chem club's best year yet! |
