Juliet Meir Co-President (fall semester) |
Julie is from Hollywood, Florida and is currently a Senior at Stern College for Women. She likes horseback riding, Tae Kwon Do, knitting, and tennis. Since tenth grade, she has loved chemistry and all it has to offer. She hopes that her love of chemistry only grows with time. |
Avigail Soloveichik Co-President (fall sememster) |
Avigail hails from Chicago, IL and Queens, NY, and is a proud fan of both the Cubs and the Mets. She likes to come up with questions, and her current debate is as to whether her favorite state is Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, or Colorado. Avigail’s favorite equation used to be the Arrhenius equation, but recently Schrodinger’s equation and the Nernst equation are providing tough competition. Avigail hopes to one day work for NASA; and, of course, she thinks chemistry is awesome! |
Becky Weiss President (spring semester) |
Born and raised in Queens, Becky is currently a Senior at Stern with a major in biochemistry. Orgo was one of Becky's favorite classes, and if you ever need to find her, the best place to look is in the organic chemistry lab. Her favorite pastime is creating a color-coded diagram of all the metabolic pathways on an 8 x 11" piece of paper. In addition to being a natural chemist in the kitchen, Becky enjoys ultimate Frisbee, softball, and crossword puzzles. |
Aviva Gittleman |
Aviva has dreamed of being a scientist ever since watching Ms. Frizzle on the Magic School Bus every morning before school. After attaining a BA in biology from Stern College, Aviva is planning to further her science education in graduate school studying cell and developmental biology. Outside of the classroom she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, and swimming. |
Jessica Gross |
Jessica is a Senior at Stern majoring in biochemistry. She has always loved swimming. Originally from Teaneck, she has now made herself a second home in the 5th floor chemistry labs, visiting nearly every day. Evidence of this can often be seen by the goggle marks that never quite disappear from her forehead. |
Orli Haken |
Orli hails from LA and Baltimore and is currently a Senior at Stern. With Biochemistry as her major, Orli loves all things science. She has a passion for ice skating and cannot wait to take advantage of Bryant Park's ice rink this winter. Bowling, listening to music, and just spending time with friends also make it pretty high on her list. |
Ilana Ickow |
Ilana is from Ocean, NJ, and is a Junior at Stern. She enjoys graphic design, playing the piano and flute, and watching periodontal surgery. Her love of chemistry is inspired by her fascination with oxidation-reduction reactions. Her favorite electron configuration is the sigma, sigma* configuration and her favorite color corresponds to the 490 nanometer wavelength. She looks forward to the day when the missing elements will be found, dead or alive. |
Batsheva Kuhr |
Batsheva is originally from Baltimore. Currently a Junior, she plans to major in biology. Her favorite aspect of chemistry is lab, because she likes performing interesting experiments. She has just completed a research internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Batsheva enjoys ice-skating, hiking, listening to music, and cooking. |
Emily Levine |
Emily is from Great Neck, NY, and is a Junior at Stern majoring in biochemistry and philosophy. She loves juggling, traveling to far-off countries, and dancing salsa. Emily's interest in chemistry pretty much boils down to a burning desire to learn the secret to baking the greatest chocolate chip cookies. Somehow, despite all the classes she has taken on the topic, she persistently manages to burn her pastries. |
Racheli Ratner |
Racheli Ratner, Brooklyn native, is a participant in the Legacy Heritage Jewish Education Program at Stern College. She is majoring in Jewish Education and minoring in Chemistry. She is a typical chemist who sees the glass completely full--half in the liquid state and half in the vapor state. If she is not in the Beit Midrash, she is in the chem lab, working away...or in the Schottenstein store buying gummies! |
Kaitlyn Respler |
Kaitlyn is from Teaneck, New Jersey. She first encountered her passion for chemistry as a mere 6th grader attending space camp at the Buehler Science Center. She has now decided to pursue a biochemistry major at Stern College with the hopes of going to medical school. Outside of school she enjoys volunteering for Yachad, hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking. |
