OUR THEME: Chemistry and Color_________________________________________
Color chemistry is central to everything around us. Colors have a significant position in science; they are important in terms of the reason for their existence and also their many practical applications. Even the absence of color is an important and fascinating phenomenon. The chemistry club has planned many exciting activities for this year to learn about fluorescence, color restoration in art, food dyes, color vision, chemistry magic, cosmetics and chemistry, science as art, and more! We hope that, along the way, you find that chemistry is fascinating, applicable, colorful, and entertaining!
Every few weeks, we will have a new poll question about chemistry/color. Feel free to vote and view results! In addition, every month we will choose a "color of the month" and decorate our bulletin board with chemistry facts about that color. We will also have a new chemistry-and-color contest every month.

Chemistry Club Mascots_________________________________________________
Our first contest of the year was for students to design this year's color-chemistry CLUB MASCOT! Please say hello to our new general/associate chemistry club mascots: Bernard and Beatrice the hamster-squishing cowboys! They were designed by Stern College alumna Tzippora Kanal (2010) and drawn on Maestro by Avigail Soloveichik (2011). They happily welcome their color-specific friend, Wadsworth the Water Molecule, designed by YC student Yosef Hoffman.
THE COLOR MASCOT WINNER IS......YOSEF HOFFMAN!
His name is Wadsworth and he does not like to be called Wads for short. He is kind of shy, but is quite funny once you get to know him. If he is not what you're looking for please go easy on him; he is very sensitive.
Chemistry/Color Poll___________________________________________________
|
The previous poll asked, "Which of the following is your favorite highlighter color?" Out of a total of 34 votes, yellow came in first place (16 votes); blue and orange in second (6); and green and pink in third (3).
